Graco Nautilus 3-in-1 Toddler Matrix is Top Car Seat now. For 389 days it's in the top 100 Top Sellers on Amazon! Great CarSeat for little money.
Graco Nautilus 3in1 CarSeat helps keep your child harnessed as long as you can. Once your child outgrows his rear-facing infant car seat, he's still required ride in a car seat or a booster for several more years to come.

The Graco Nautilus 3 in 1 Toddler Car Seat is the only forward-facing car seat your child will need. Its five-point harness accommodates children up to 65 pounds. It helps keep him safe in a 5-point harness longer than most car seats. The headrest is very easy to adjust and is able to raise quite high.

This seat can be used up to when your child is 100lbs. Later, the Graco Infant CarSeat converts to a highback booster then backless booster, for comfortable, custom protection up to 100 lbs. The steel-reinforced structure ensures your child's safety. It's got a nice weight, sturdy frame, and it's large enough to have a big kid sit in it.

It looks great too! The toddler car seat design is very nice. Your kid would enjoy "big kid" features like cup holders and arm rests. Kids love also the toy and snacks "compartment" in the arm rests and have a lot of fun hiding toys there. Also, this Graco Nautilus Car Seat sits up higher like a car seat, so kids can see out the window.

girl sleeping in graco nautilus 3 in 1 car seatI've looked at the Nautilus in person at several stores and also tried my daughter in one to make sure it's the one I want. I was concerned about its looks but it's much better looking in person.
My daughter is 3-1/2 yrs. old, 42 inches tall, and weighs 38 pounds and the shoulder straps on the Nautilus would be set at the second one down from the top, so she'll have some growing room for the harness.

The harness is very easy to adjust, maybe because the straps are thinner. I have no problems with the harness straps getting twisted--when she gets out I just tuck them sort of behind the arm rests so they are out of the way for her to get in the next time.

Does this seat have capabilities to be anchored to the seat, other than just the seat belt strap? Yes, you can use the latch system.

The five point harness is critical to my daughter's safety and it is very easy to use. I like the added protection of the wings and the extra benefit of my daughter sleeping without slumping. She is very comfortable (trust me, this child is VERY verbal) and tells us she likes it alot. This Graco CarSeat is easy for me and anyone else to use.

The best part is that this is the last car seat we will need to buy for her-good up until 90 lbs which covers the restrictions in NJ state for required car seat use.

Had Britax and not sure yet if the Graco Nautilus 3-in-1 is the one you would go with?

Based on the reviews, I determined that the Nautilus held some advantages over the others, and with their safety and features basically equal, I went with the one that cost less - Graco.

Graco Nautilus vs. Britax from Buyers' Reviews

Pros

  • Graco is easy to install. It took two firemen to install the Britax so it wouldn't move (and it hasn't since it is a pain to move from one car to the next), the Nautilus on the other hand is easy to install in both a belt and latch cars (I can do it by myself).
  • The vehicle seat belt was a little easier to install than on Britax because there's a little more space in the back of the car seat to squeeze your hand through.
The harness is very easy to adjust, even easier than our Britax, maybe because the straps are thinner.
  • Love the fact that I can adjust the harness straps with the touch of a button.
My daughter is able to climb into this alot easier and there are two slots for the belt buckle (Britax only has one).
  • Graco has the best price. I am very happy I did not buy the more expensive Britax. Almost $80 cheaper than comparable car seat from Britax. I will use the savings to buy my daughter the same one.
  • Graco seat material is better - it's easy to clean. Frontier seat material is prone to wear where the child's bottom and legs rub on the seat. It also shows WAY more stains and soaks up spills quicker than the Graco.
  • Cup holder and "hidden" storage are neat in the Graco. The Frontier has 2 cup holders, but they can not both be out, as one hits the door when installed on far right or left. The cup holders also do not go smoothly in and out when installed in the vehicle, as the seat blocks the cup holder from retracting. This does not happen when the seat is not snugged down, but when installed.
  • The Graco Nautilus Car Seat 3in1 convert to a booster and has a higher weight limit.

  • Cons

  • I really like the seat but the straps seem thin to me and twist easily. I never had that issue with my Britax.
  • Frontier has 3 crotch strap adjustments for easy fitting. The Graco only has 2 which makes the older kids sit on the strap.
  • The buckle's placement is inconvenient since my son is usually sitting on the buckle after he climbs in and i need him to get back out to retrieve it.
  • The Graco has only a 12.5 inch seat width for the child to move around in. The Frontier has a 12.5 seat area around the tush, but opens to a spacious 17 inch wide seat. Older kids need more space.
  • My only criticism is that I wish it had the ability to adjust the harness height without taking it out.
  • Frontier is so much easier to adjust the shoulder height strap as this is big pain when you have another child who wants to use the seat. With a simple squeeze of a lever, the straps go up. The Graco needs to be rethreaded.
  • We wish there were more of a recline position available for our kids fall asleep. We think that it's not a great car seat for sleeping.
  • If you have ever tried an Evenflo Triumph, or the other higher end Evenflo seats, you will be dissapointed with the adjustability of the graco's straps.
  • The only con that I have to complain about is that it's very heavy, but I know that it is made well. As long as you don't have to move it from car to car, it will be ok.

  • If you have a bigger toddler and want the added protection of the five point harness not only are the features great on the Nautilus but the price is right too. Click here to buy Graco Nautilus 3-in-1 Car Seat in Matrix
